Imap/pop3 -- What is the difference?

POP3:

most email clients will, by default, download your email from the server. This means that when logging into the server to view emails you will have none, all your email will be on the computer you have the client setup on. Also, if you use folders to seperate your emails these changes will not replicate between web server and client. This is best for those of you who have large attachments sent to you frequently and do not need to check your email anywhere but you're email client.
IMAP:
All emails and folders created or deleted from either the web server or the client will be replicated to the other. This ensures that your email remains the same on the web server and the email client. This is best for those of you who need to check your email from the internet frequently and cannot afford to have discrepencies between the server and your email client.
